We all know what is past is past. What it is gone, it is gone forever. The future is yet to come. The only time we have is the present moment. To be precise, NOW.
The problem is we live on auto-pilot most of the time. We just let the present moment slips through our life, while our mind is either too busy dwelling on the past or straining toward the future.
One good way to learn how to live mindfully in the present is through mindfulness meditation.
It is an ancient Buddhist practice, which one is trained to intentionally focus on our daily experience. It is not easy to do it. One easy way is to concentrate on your breathing, to keep your mind from distractions.
It is definitely good for our well-being, when we are able to still our minds and become calmly aware of the present moment.
One good book you should check out is "How To Love (Mindful Essentials)" by Thích Nhất Hạnh.
